People from all across the Barrie area look forward to our annual auction getting great deals just in time for Christmas. Help support our local business and our community. We are looking for items big or small, gift certificates to a local shops or restaurants, a night out on the town, local adventures like Ski, Movie or Theatre pass, a BBQ, hot tub just to name a few of our past donations!
Festival of Trees
Most people think the gorgeous display of lights that appear along Lakeshore Drive during the holiday season is put there by the city, but in fact it’s our club working with generous sponsoring companies who are identified on signs throughout the park with fundraising proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Barrie. Festival of Trees lights are lit during the Santa Claus parade and remain lit till the spring. Immediately following the parade there’s a picnic with hot dogs, hot chocolate and hot cider.
The Barrie Fun Run
In May it’s time for the Rotary Fun Run & Walk at the SouthShore Community Centre. We’ll have music from different decades along the route & a dance party at the end. Prizes for best costumes, top finishers & best fundraisers.
Wheels for Wellness
“Wheels for Wellness” is a fundraiser whose proceeds go to wellness related projects and charities in our community such as Georgian Health & Wellness Centre, YMCA and other community projects. The day is designed to focus on fun, fitness and friendly team competition as teams of up to seven members pedal either spin bikes or bicycles on trainers. We also had several other activities happening simultaneously to keep participants and spectators occupied during the ride… dj music, tests of fitness, healthy snacks & more. Prizes include cycling oriented accessories like trainers, water bottles, wear, helmets, coffee mugs and more were awarded for best costumes, most funds raised, most enthusiastic team etc.
Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival
The Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival kicks off our fundraising year at the Tiffin Centre. Here you’ll see historic re-enactments of Canada’s early history, tap maple trees and watch the sap transformed into syrup. Sample this natural sweetness on pancakes with sausage, as well as shop for maple candy, syrup and souvenirs. Kids’ can have their faces painted, make some crafts, build a birdhouse, enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride and maybe get a hug from a boa constrictor.
Kempenfest Beer Garden
Our volunteers host you at the Kempenfest Beer Gardens and Mainstage, our biggest fundraising event of the year. After discovering the treasures offered at a huge variety of vendor’s tents by the bay you can enjoy summer at its best as you sway to the live music that drifts over the lake. Savour BBQ, pizza, or fries with a refreshing drink as you soak in the sun and dig the happy vibes.
